We race in what is called a Limited Late Model class which is more economical to compete in than the premier division of Super Late Model. The cars in the two different divisions both Super and Limited Late Model bare a strong resemblance to one another and that is for a good reason they both share a lot of the same parts. Where the Super Late uses the high end or more expensive parts the Limited Late uses a similar part that is more economically priced and of a slightly lesser grade or quality. The difference can be attributed to the rules that govern each class which require the Limited Lates to use the less expensive parts in order to control cost. One of the most noticeable differences is in the area of tires. The typical Super Late utilizes a 10 inch wide tire that is relatively soft and typically need replacing every two races where as the Limited Late uses a narrower 8 inch tire that is slightly harder and is capable of lasting up to 6 races in some cases. This is also one of the bigger factors in the speed difference of the two classes. The car's are almost completely assembled from parts that where solely made for the purpose of racing. Although the body may resemble the average car the fact is that these machine's are built with the intention of going fast around oval tracks in a counter clockwise direction. |
